Teamleader acquires accounting app Dexxter AND launches Teamleader One for the self-employed
Teamleader, the Ghent-based scale-up and market leader in business software, announced today, on the Day of the Entrepreneur, the acquisition of Dexxter alongside the launch of its Teamleader One software package. These initiatives aim to further strengthen Teamleader’s support for start-ups and the self-employed.
Dexxter is the accounting app for doing your own bookkeeping as a sole trader, student or side hustler. With the new Teamleader One, in turn, we are focusing on small companies. Belgium is pre-eminently a country of small businesses. We are therefore very proud that Teamleader is now available for every company, from start-ups to SMEs.
From today, start-up Dexxter will continue under the wings of Teamleader. Launched in 2021 by former student entrepreneurs Robbe Claessens, Stan De Pauw and Giel Thomas, Dexxter has seen its customer base triple every year. Today, the company has more than 7,000 customers.
Since the beginning, it was our mission to let dreamers and doers do business with confidence. With Teamleader, we have found an ally. Thanks to Teamleader's expertise in software-as-a-service (SaaS) in Belgium, we see potential to accelerate our further growth.
‘Dexxter is a fantastic, user-friendly app that includes all the features that sole traders need,’ explains Jeroen De Wit, CEO of Teamleader. ‘In addition, it is no secret that I have a fondness for student entrepreneurs. Teamleader itself was born when I started a company together with two fellow students and became frustrated by the lack of quality administrative tools. Thanks to Dexxter, Teamleader can now support even more entrepreneurs - including hopefully a lot of student entrepreneurs - in their further growth.’
Dexxter's team will continue to operate on its own from Mechelen, with the three founders at the helm. Dexxter will become part of the Teamleader ecosystem.
Belgium is preeminently a country of small businesses: figures from Statbel show that 95.9% of Belgian companies are micro-enterprises. A large proportion of these are self-employed: according to the FPS Economy, our country has more than a million self-employed and self-employed helpers - a number that has been growing steadily over the past decade.
At the same time, start-ups and self-employed professionals in a secondary occupation are finding it increasingly difficult to find an accountant, as more and more accountancy firms are being forced to put a client freeze on their services. With the upcoming obligation of e-invoicing, another huge change is imminent: from 2026, all Belgian companies will have to invoice each other electronically.
The result of this is that lots of self-employed people are looking for a solution. As a market leader in business software, Teamleader is capitalising on this, and now has an offer for every type of entrepreneur. Besides the acquisition of Dexxter, Teamleader is also launching Teamleader One. The functionalities that were previously only available to SMEs and larger companies with Teamleader Focus and Teamleader Orbit, will now become available to startups, freelancers and self-employed entrepreneurs thanks to Teamleader One.
‘For self-employed people, the need for quality invoicing is very high,’ states Jeroen De Wit. ‘With Teamleader, we have built up an enormous amount of knowledge and expertise to support this target group.'
Teamleader One is actually the little brother of Teamleader Focus. Teamleader One gives self-employed people control over their finances again, their cash flow is transparent at all times and invoicing runs flawlessly thanks to digitisation and automation.
The expansion of the product portfolio fits perfectly with Teamleader's mission to support entrepreneurs with the right digital solutions.
Teamleader One and Dexxter are a logical addition to our portfolio. Teamleader is now there for everyone, from start-ups to SMEs and larger companies.
